Lab Instruments
The ability of a chemistry and biochemistry department to deliver
a contemporary curriculum can be measured by its instrument holdings. This
is especially true in the laboratory where it is essential that students
have access to current instruments and methods. The Faculty of the Chemistry
and Biochemistry Department at SFSU firmly believes in student access to
all contemporary instrumentation, both in the instructional and research
laboratory settings. Only by using instrumentation in the laboratory can
students gain an appreciation of the theory and an understanding of how the
instrument is useful in chemical and biochemical systems. The following list
of instruments highlights our major holdings and represents an exceptional
cache of contemporary chemical and biochemical instrumentation available
to our majors.
